This is the 2014 vintage of the unpeated, locally grown single malt Bruichladdich Islay Barley. It's distilled from Concerto and Propino barley grown on eight local farms (Coull, Rockside, Island, Mulindry, Cruach, Dunlossit, Craigens and Sunderland Farms), all within an 11-mile radius of Bruichladdich. It was predominantly matured in first-fill bourbon casks (80%) along with a combination of second-fill sherry butts (5%) and second-fill wine casks (15%) for over eight years before it was bottled at 50% ABV.
The result is a cereal-forward single malt with notes of apricot and peach, malty digestive biscuit, and a hint of fresh grass. A subtle maritime note also lingers, nodding to the whisky’s all Islay harvest, distillation and maturation.
