The Na Sia Single Cask Series – Through The Ages showcases the six distinct Isle of Raasay Single Malt recipe casks, with a special focus on Bordeaux Red Wine cask maturation. These high-quality casks, sourced fresh from châteaux in Southwest France, impart a deep red hue to the spirit during its early maturation stages. Over time, the whisky develops bold flavors and rich fruity notes, including dried fruits, sultanas, grapes, and traditional holiday desserts like Christmas cake and bread pudding. This series is released biennially, featuring both peated and unpeated expressions.
The Bordeaux red wine casks used in this series are crafted from two European oak species, Quercus patrea and Quercus robur, which add layers of savory spice to the whisky. These casks previously aged three vintages of Bordeaux wine, infusing the spirit with sumptuous fruity notes such as blackberries, plums, and cherries. With a 220-liter capacity, these casks contribute a unique depth and complexity to the whisky, enhancing its overall character through the interaction of oak tannins and red wine influence.
Each bottle from this release is hand-bottled at natural cask strength, with individual cask numbers featured on the label, highlighting the distinct nature of every cask.
